What’s in Bloom Wednesday

Crescendo Rose

The blooms on this rose tree are so lovely!

A friend mentioned that she wasn’t sure what a tree rose is so here is a photo. The plant is actually made up of three parts; the root, which is grafted on to a 36″ stem, which has the rose stock grafted to it. We have it staked, since the plant is top heavy, but other than that, it behaves like a regular rose.

Tree rose

My father had a Peace tree rose when I was little and he just loved it. Every Summer he would keep track of how many blooms he cut for my mother and would wrap it up in burlap for the cold Pennsylvania winters. I think Peter’s tree roses will do just fine here in the Carolinas.
